05 — FAQ

Before you book.

A technical review confirms the appropriate scope before equipment is brought in for testing.

What equipment can be tested?

Compatible examples may include lifting chains, chain slings, wire ropes and wire-rope assemblies, shackles, hooks, master links, coupling links and other lifting accessories. Every item is subject to technical assessment before booking.

What information is needed before booking?

Please provide the equipment type, identification, dimensions, working load limit, configuration, applicable standard, required test load and any existing documentation or certificates.

Can wire ropes and chain slings be tested?

Compatible wire-rope assemblies and chain slings may be accepted after reviewing their length, end connections, configuration, WLL, required test load and test-bed compatibility.

Does every item require proof-load testing?

No. Visual examination, proof-load testing and certification are related but distinct stages. What is appropriate depends on the equipment, its condition, intended use and the applicable standard.

What is the maximum test capacity?

The horizontal test bed has a maximum force rating of 200 kN, approximately equivalent to 20.4 tonnes-force. This rating does not by itself confirm that a particular item can be accepted.

Can lifting chains and accessories also be supplied?

Yes. Grade 8 lifting chain, chain sling assemblies, coupling links, master links, shackles, self-locking hooks and compatible accessories can be quoted to the required working load, length, configuration and application.
